Week 4 Review

Now that things have settled down a bit and we are starting to get into the heart of the season, it is time for teams to start taking care of business. While we do not have many highly rated rivalries going on, this is where you continue to establish your spot as a program.

Millard South @ Cardinal Ritter 55-40

Led by QB Trae Taylor, the Millard South Patriots made the long trip down to St. Louis to face off the Lions of Cardinal Ritter. While Millard South won by 2 scores, this was an absolute dogfight the entire game. After 2 quarters, this game was tied up at 28-28. However, Trae Taylor was too much for the Ritter defense, as he managed to put up 8 total touchdowns – 5 passing and 3 rushing. On the other side of the field, the Lions were led by Sophomore backup QB Darnell Jones who put up 4 touchdowns of his own. While the Lions are 1-3, they have played 3 very close games against incredible teams, displaying that they are still one of the best teams in the region. The Lions schedule does not get any easier, as they will be traveling to Virginia to play St. James Performance Academy.

Lindbergh @ Lafayette 28-27

In what was one of the more surprising games we saw this week, the Lindbergh Flyers take down the Lancers of Lafayette, handing the Lancers their second straight loss. With the help of a hook-and-ladder, the Lindbergh offense was too much for the Lancer Defense. Led by QB Colby Bangert, the Flyers escape with a very high quality win. The Flyers host the Falcons of Summit next week in another tough matchup, while the Lafayette Lancers travel to Marquette to play the Mustangs.

Eureka @ Rockwood Summit 22-7

Down in Fenton, the Eureka Wildcats continue their strong 2026 campaign with a well fought victory against the Summit Falcons. Leading the charge for the Wildcats was QB Zac Kem with 198 passing Yds, 94 rushing Yds and 2 passing TDs. The Wildcats put up more than 400 Yds of offense and also shut the door on defense. Next week, the Wildcats look to start 4-1 against the undefeated Kirkwood Pioneers @ Eureka.

CBC @ Vianney 56-28

In a game we thought might have been a blowout, things got pretty interesting. Down in Kirkwood, the Vianney Griffins hosted the mighty Cadets of CBC. Vianney, led by QB Harlan Futrell, was able to hang around CBC for most of the game. Futrell put up 223 passing yards and 88 rushing yards with 3 total TDs. However, Daylen Austin-Harvey and the CBC Cadets proved to be too much. At the end of the third quarter, CBC held a 42-28 lead. The cadets then added 2 more touchdowns to solidify a 56-28 victory against the Griffins.

Timberland @ Fort Zumwalt North 21-20

Rounding off our top games of the week, we saw a thriller in north O’Fallon. The Timberland Wolves faced off against the Fort Zumwalt North Panthers in what has developed into a big rivalry over the years. The Panthers got off to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter and looked to seal this game almost immediately. However, the Wolves did not let that happen. The Wolves defense was resilient and allowed the offense to get back in the game, tying things up in the 4th quarter. Then, with 4 minutes left in the game, North RB Evan Carson punched in a go-ahead TD run. But North was not able to convert the extra point, which would end up costing them bigtime. Timberland then drove down the field and capped it off with a 17 yd TD pass from QB Tavren Williams with 1 minute left in the game. Then the special teams unit came onto the field and did what they are trained to do – finish the job. With an extra point, Timberland took a 21-20 lead, resulting in a very impressive win for the Wolves.
