Week 7 Preview
Going into Week 7, many teams still have questions on the table. Some teams are trying to finish the season strong, while others are trying to make a push to get a good playoff spot. Regardless of their situation, Week 7 is a very important one for almost every team. This week, we have a number of high quality matchups where statements can be made.
#5 Eureka (5-1) @ #4 Ladue (6-0)
In what some are calling The Suburban Super Bowl, we have one of the most anticipated matchups of 2026. The #5 and #4 teams in St. Louis will be going head to head at the pristine Orrin S. Wightman IV Field at Ladue High School. Both teams come into this game with a combined record of 11-1, with Eureka’s sole loss coming by a deficit of 1 point. Ladue has had an absolutely dominant season, where almost no team was able to keep it close. On the other side of the ball, Eureka has a stacked resume of their own, beating Troy Buchanan @ Troy, Kirkwood, Parkway North, Summit, and Marquette. Led by QB Zac Kem, the Wildcats look to continue to plow their way through their Suburban opponents, while Ladue looks to go 7-0 for the first time since 2019.
#9 Chaminade (4-2) @ #3 CBC (3-3)
The last 2 weeks for the Cadets have been heartbreaking to say the least. For the second week in a row, the Cadets fell by a single point, and this time in overtime. They are only a few plays away from having a 5-1 record. However, they will try to right the ship this week against hot #9 Chaminade, who is coming off of 2 very strong wins against St. Dominic & Vianney. With the help of the Spinelli Field crowd, Daylen Austin-Harvey and the Cadets look to make things right this week and get back to their dominance over the MCC.
Centralia (Illinois) (7-0) @ #1 (SS) Breese Central (7-0)
Across the river, we might have the best small school matchup of the 2026 season. The undefeated Orphans of Centralia will travel to Breese Central to face the undefeated Cougars. This game consists of 2 teams with a combined record of 14-0. However, someone has to lose this game. Centralia has won every game by an average of 34 points, while Breese Central has won every game by an average of 25 points. Absolute dominance. There is no other way to put it. Friday night should be one for the ages.
#7 Troy Buchanan (5-1) @ Francis Howell (4-2)
Ever since their Week 1 overtime loss to Eureka, Troy Buchanan has been absolutely terrifying. They have gone 5-0 with an average point differential of 38 points. If it says anything about how dominant they are, they were winning 66-0 last week… at halftime. Led by QB Carter Shafer, the Trojans look to continue this dominance against a really good Francis Howell team. After some disappointing early losses, the Vikings have steamrolled through the GAC and are waiting to find an equal opponent. With the home crowd behind them, Francis Howell looks to complete a huge upset this week against the Trojans.
St. Pius X - KC (5-1) @ #2 De Smet (5-1)
I would be remiss to not mention this Saturday night special. The De Smet Spartans will be hosting the Kansas City powerhouse, St. Pius X. After 3 demanding MCC victories in a row, the De Smet Spartans look to go defend their home turf with a massive win this upcoming Saturday. With an impressive away victory at Francis Howell earlier in the year, a victory here for St. Pius X against De Smet would probably top that one. STL passing leader Chase Cooper looks to continue what the Spartans have been doing recently and move to 6-1.
Other Notable Matchups:
Lutheran North (2-3) @ #6 (SS) MICDS (5-1)
Highland (5-2) @ #4 (SS) Cahokia (5-2)
Farmington (5-1) @ #7 (SS) St. Pius X (4-1)
Lift for Life (2-4) @ #5 (SS) Cardinal Ritter (2-4)
