Week 10 Preview

Week 10 Preview

It is now officially the playoff season for both Missouri and Illinois. With this being Week 1 of Missouri playoffs, most of our big time matchups will be happening across the river. Here are some of the biggest games to be on the lookout for:

#10 (SS) Highland (7-3) @ #7 (SS) Freeburg (7-2)

On Halloween night, the Highland Bulldogs will be facing the Freeburg Midgets. Both of these teams put up very impressive regular seasons. Led by QB Jax Ohren, the Highland Bulldogs have had an explosive offense all year, averaging 43 points per game. QB Ohren currently leads the STL area in passing with 3141 yards and 33 TDs, while RB Carter Harris is currently 4th with 1466 total rushing yards. Freeburg has also had a dominant offense led by RB Cooper Kisgen with 1191 rushing yards. This matchup is set up perfectly for an offensive explosion. The defense that can manage to get a few crucial stops may be the team that makes it out of this game alive.

Civic Memoria (5-5) @ Centralia (9-0)

Over in Centralia, the Civic Memorial Eagles will be facing off against the mighty Orphans of Centralia. The Orphans have pretty much dominated everyone they have played. Centralia is averaging 45 points per game. These teams met earlier in the season, and Centralia got the best of Civic, beating them 49-7. We will see if the Eagles can turn the tides and get a massive upset in this one.

Metamora (7-3) @ #3 (SS) Breese Central (8-1)

Staying in a similar region, the Metamora Redbirds will be up against the Breese Central Cougars. Led by QB Owen Kehrer, the Central Cougars have also had a dominant offense all year, only scoring less than 33 points in one game this season. Metamora, however, is not a push over. They have some very strong wins, especially against the 4th ranked small school in St. Louis, the Cahokia Comanches. If Breese Central does what they have been doing all season, they should come out on top in this one.

#4 (SS) Cahokia (7-3) @ Jacksonville (8-1)

Speaking of Cahokia, the Comanches will be traveling a bit north to face the Jacksonville Crimsons. Cahokia has had a very strong season, with quality wins against Mt. Zion, Carbondale, Marion and Highland. The Comanches have a little bit of deja vu with this one, as they also faced the Crimsons last year in the first round. They would love to repeat what they did last year as they won that game 36-13.

Lindbergh (4-5) @ Oakville (7-2)

While the Illinois playoffs already started last week, Missouri playoffs open this week with the first round of district matchups. While currently displaying a 4-5 record, that does not discredit how good of a team the Lindbergh Flyers are. With a schedule like theirs, most other teams would probably go 0-9, but they have notched out 4 high quality wins. These 2 teams faced off earlier in the season, and Oakville came out on top 14-7. The Flyers have had their backs up against the wall all season and would love to shock the Tigers and pull this one off.
