Week 5 Preview

Week 5 Preview

We are now officially at the midpoint of the season, which sounds crazy to say. We have already seen numerous incredible games to start the season, but this is when things start to get real. Teams are starting to think about playoffs, having to manage injuries, and are continuing to gameplan for upcoming matchups. This week, we have a number of matchups that will start to determine the course of the rest of the season.

Cardinal Ritter @ St. James Performance

This week, the Cardinal Ritter Lions look to bounce back after 3 straight very tough losses against top tier opponents. The Lions will be making the trip all the way up to Virginia on Friday to play another highly ranked team, St. James Performance Academy. Things just do not get any easier for the Lions, but these matchups will set the Lions up perfectly for the playoffs.

CBC @ Lipscomb Tennessee

Also making a long trip out of town are the Cadets of CBC who will be traveling to Lipscomb Tennessee to play the Mustangs. CBC comes into this game 3-1 with solid wins against some of the best programs in St. Louis. The only real gauge we have of Lipscomb Tennessee is a 1 point loss to a Knoxville Catholic team that beat Cardinal Ritter, so if that tells you anything, this should be a great matchup.

Lift for Life @ SLUH

After a dominant win against the St. Dominic Crusaders last week, the SLUH Jr. Billikens look to keep it rolling against a very solid Lift for Life Team. Leading the charge for the Jr. Bills is QB Pat Stein, who has put up 3 straight quality starts after becoming the full time starter. However, the Hawks of Lift for Life look to stop that train and get back above .500 with a strong win against the Jr. Bills.

Kirkwood @ Eureka

Down in Eureka, the Kirkwood Pioneers look to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2021 season. However, it is not going to come that easy. The Eureka Wildcats come into this game 3-1 with strong wins against teams such as Troy Buchanan and Parkway North, and were 1 point away from being 4-0. The Wildcats, led by QB Zac Kem, look to defend their home turf and start the season 4-1 with some incredible wins. For both of these teams, this game could be a season-defining victory.

Ladue @ Parkway North

Over in Creve Coeur, the Rams of Ladue look to start off 5-0 for the first time since their state run in 2019. The Rams have been dominant all year against quality opponents and look to keep that going against the Parkway North Vikings. The Vikings, led by QB Jeremiah Burns, look to get a big home victory against Ladue.

Other notable matchups:

St. Mary’s @ Hayden Catholic

Triad @ O’Fallon

Vianney @ De Smet

East St. Louis @ Edwardsville

St. Dominic @ Chaminade
